Brown Rudnick has moved its Washington, D.C., office to a new, state-of the art space at 1900 N Street, NW in Dupont Circle. With 27,513 square feet and located on the 4th floor, the new office provided ample space for their expanding team and was designed to foster connection.
The SAS team worked closely with the architect , Studio Alliance, to provide a practical application to their vision for the conference area. The SAS170 concealed grid system was the perfect solution both aesthetically and acoustically, providing varying sound control throughout the space as needed.
The SAS170 system was modified into triangular tiles which were color wrapped and perforated for the desired acoustic control. Two different acoustical micro-perforations were used to control the sound and speech requirements of the conference room.
An ultra-micro S1003 perforation, that is almost invisible to the eye, provides a 0.9 Class A acoustic absorption rate to remove unwanted background noise. Additionally, a larger D4843 perforation was specified below microphone and speaker locations to maximize audio clarity.
The SAS system needed to seamlessly integrate with the triangular LumiCloudTM lighting panels. This alternating triangular layout with strategic offset of the tiles provided three -dimensional texture to the space, creating a visually stunning result.
A key benefit of the SAS170 system is its versatility. The suspended ceiling system uses a convenient, hinge down torsion spring to easily access the ceiling void while seamlessly integrating with different ceiling styles.
